Magazines needed! The workshop organisers for 'visualising non-monogamous emotions' has requested magazines/catalogues (that you don't mind being cut up!) for this craft/collage workshop on people's experiences of 'jealousy and the opposite of jealousy'. If you're attending polyday, and think you can bring some magazines/catalogues along, please comment here, or just drop them at the desk when you register. Thanks Jess ( spikeylady) | | 9:24 am |
DJ requests One of the DJs has asked me to do a shout out for any requests. So if you have songs you want to hear (or really don't, I guess) then comment here. Thanks to all the kind volunteers for the desk. werenerd will be organising you now, so report to him on Saturday. Thanks, Jess ( spikeylady) | | Saturday, September 1st, 2007 | | 11:15 am |
Desk monkeys!! Hi all, Polyday is fast approaching, and I'm looking for volunteers to help me on the desk. If you're interested, comment here or email me (spikeylady livejournal address). I'll be on all day, so I need folk to double up with me, and a few volunteers to take over in the evening. Please specify which of these you'd prefer. Once the workshop timetable is finalised there'll be potential to swap with others if there's a session you don't want to miss. Cheers! Polyday 2007: Saturday 22 September We're pleased to announce that the next Polyday will be on Saturday, 22 September 2007! We're going back to the same venue, Doggett's, who were so good to us last time. The organisational process is just getting started at the moment - we still have lots to sort out! I'll try and keep this blog up to date on where we're at, though these things have a way of going quiet just when everything is busiest so don't worry if you don't hear from us for a bit. I've put the new date on the website, and tried to make it up-to-date to reflect the new details, but I'd like to make sure it's right before I mail the people who've asked for email notifications. Is there anything that I've left out that I need to update? What else does the website need that it doesn't have? Thanks for reading, and hope to see you all there! — Paul Crowley aka ciphergoth | | Sunday, October 15th, 2006 | | 2:22 pm |
Polyday 2006 a huge success! Wow, that went well. We got nearly 200 people at the first London Polyday, which is pushing the limits of what we can fit into that venue, and it looks like they had a great time. My heartfelt thanks to the team, to the people who ran workshops, to the desk staff, to the DJs and to everyone who attended for helping us make something so fab. I've wanted to go to such an event for years - running it is definitely one way to do it! We definitely want to do it again. If you'd like to get an email when we announce our next event, please mail announce@polyday.org.uk and we'll put you on the list. Did you attend Polyday? How was it for you? Please post your thoughts, impressions and suggestions here - or just ask the person whose email address you lost to get in touch :-) Thanks again! -- ciphergoth Current Mood: ecstatic | | Thursday, October 12th, 2006 | | 12:04 pm |
Workshop list online Polyday is on Saturday! The workshop timetable is now online: http://www.polyday.org.uk/plan.htmlI'm doing the "Introduction" workshop - wish me luck! Incidentally, I have been asked if there will be cake again, as there was for BiFest. I'd like to make it entirely clear that we have no problem with people bringing cake, none at all :-) See you on Saturday I hope! Rah! -- ciphergoth | | Tuesday, September 12th, 2006 | | 9:06 pm |
Volunteers needed Greetings Polyday watchers :) I'm organising the desk for Polyday, and am looking for people who are planning to attend and would like to help us out by volunteering for a desk slot.
Day slots 10am-8.30pm
These slots will be an hour in length, with two people on the desk at all times, and a half hour cross over. This means that only three of the slots will involve someone having to miss two workshop sessions, and also that when you're on the desk you'll have two different companions over the hour. We need coverage for 20 slots, and ideally I'd like 20 volunteers.
Evening slots 8pm-midnight
These slots will also be an hour in length, but with just one person on the desk. The organisers will still be available to help, and the poly phone on the desk to call for backup. This covers the time that the disco is on, so you'd have to feel happy missing an hour of that to volunteer for one of these times. We need coverage for four slots.
Volunteering for the desk
If you'd like to volunteer to be on the desk, please comment here, or email desk@polyday.org.uk and remember to specify whether you're happy to do daytime, evening, or both/either. Also, please indicate whether you'd be able to offer to cover more than one slot. When we publish the workshop timetable, I'll contact everyone to find out what their time preferences are.
If you know of anyone who might like to help out do point them this way. Thanks for your support! | | Thursday, August 17th, 2006 | | 8:26 am |
Spread the word about Polyday Polyday is just over eight weeks away, and we'd like your help to spread the word. We think this Polyday will be a little different from anything that has gone before, and we want to reach lots of people who've never been to anything like this before. Of course we also want to reach the people who for example went to the previous Polyday, or who've been to a BiCon, but who might not know about our event. We're publicising it every way we can think of, but nothing is as effective as the grapevine. Polyday will be all about the people who come. Help us attract a big, diverse crowd and the day will be all the better. Polyday: spread the word. | | Thursday, July 27th, 2006 | | 1:00 pm |
I Love You. And You. And You. I haven't seen it yet, but I hear we got namechecked in the documentary "I Love You. And You. And You." made by Firecracker Films and shown last night on Channel 4. Excellent news! Did you see the program? What did you think? Note that this journal is linked from the polyday.org.uk front page, so your comments are quite public; feel free to delete them if that's a problem.-- ciphergoth | | Tuesday, July 18th, 2006 | | 3:45 pm |

PolyDay Times After meeting with the venue, PolyDay will open at 10am for 10:30am start, ending at 4pm. This should give people who are just coming for the day time to travel. If poly folks would care to head out for a meal afterwards (or before for the early ones!) and also do stuff in Leicester the next day that would be great. I'm not including that in my organising, I suspect it will work just fine informally. Thanks to those who have registered. I'll find it easier to organise catering and the like if more people register earlier rather than later. PolyDay now registering PolyDay will be the first UK event for everyone interested in polyamory (whatever you call it). We'll be able to meet others, share and learn how we do poly, chat about our lives and loves and form friendships and a supportive community. PolyDay will take place during the day in Leicester on Saturday 30th October. All genders and sexualities are welcome. I'm aiming to make PolyDay accessible to all regardless of disability, commitments to care for children, ability to pay etc. To register please fill in as much as you wish of the form below and send it to me. My contact details for PolyDay registration or any questions or comments are at the bottom of this post. LJ Comments to ukpoly please. Hope to see you there! Grant Who are you ----------- What name(s) would like to be called? How do I contact you? (if several ways, which do you prefer?) If anyone in your group is under 16 years old, how old are they and which adult(s) are responsible for them? Where will you be coming from and do you want to share transport? (offer/request lift) If so, what contact details would you like me to pass on? Access ------ Is there anything we can help with to make it possible for you to access, and easier for you to enjoy, PolyDay? (e.g. childcare, sign language interpretation (please state which language, e.g. bsl, sse), food allergies we should know about) Wishes and help --------------- What would you like from the day? Would you like to help? If so, are there particular things you'd like to help with? Your privacy ------------ No information that could identify you will be given to anyone outside of the PolyDay organisers. Identifying information will only be used for organising PolyDay and will be destroyed afterwards unless you give permission for it to be passed on to people you may wish to share transport with or the organisers of a similar event in the future. If anyone offers to run a similar event in the near future, perhaps next year, would you like your information passed on to them? Payment ------- I'll give you my best estimate of PolyDay's costs at the event and will ask for donations towards them and for the next similar event if anyone offers to run one. Please pay only what you can afford -- PolyDay - Saturday 30th October, Leicester http://www.uk-poly.net/, polyday2004@uk-poly.net, 07910 227732 Poly, The Post House, Barracloughs Lane, Barton-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire DN18 5BB Current Mood: chipperCurrent Music: Bjork | | Thursday, September 2nd, 2004 | | 11:14 am |
PolyDay Here's the first flyer for PolyDay that I've been distributing. More information is on the www.uk-poly.net. Followups to ukpoly please, a community which is now linked to the www.uk-poly.net website so people can read it from there too. I'd like to make it look more attractive. Anyone feeling artistic and wanting to design a new logo, or have ideas which I could pass on to a graphic artist? We have a venue. I'll be meeting with them soon to finalise details and then I'll start registering people soon. Grant PolyDay - Like a holiday, but better Are you open to loving more than one? Do you have honest emotional / intimate relationships with more than one other adult? Some of us call it polyamory (or poly for short). Others say they are non-monogamous, have multiple lovers, are in a group marriage, an open relationship, a triad, quad etc. or just do it but don't wish to label it. Some of us have been living this way for ages, some are new or are just considering it. There are lots of us interested in living this way, but we don't know each other. PolyDay will be the first UK event for everyone interested in polyamory (whatever you call it). We'll be able to meet others, share and learn how we do poly, chat about our lives and loves and form friendships and a supportive community. PolyDay will take place in Leicester on Saturday 30th October. It is being organised by Grant Denkinson and friends and I'd love to hear your ideas for the day. All genders and sexualities are welcome.
