Polyday 2006 a huge success!
Wow, that went well.

We got nearly 200 people at the first London Polyday, which is pushing the limits of what we can fit into that venue, and it looks like they had a great time.

My heartfelt thanks to the team, to the people who ran workshops, to the desk staff, to the DJs and to everyone who attended for helping us make something so fab. I've wanted to go to such an event for years - running it is definitely one way to do it!

We definitely want to do it again. If you'd like to get an email when we announce our next event, please mail announce@polyday.org.uk and we'll put you on the list.

Did you attend Polyday? How was it for you? Please post your thoughts, impressions and suggestions here - or just ask the person whose email address you lost to get in touch :-)

Thanks again!

Thanks for organising it - I had a great time!

Suggestion for next time - a wider range of items and formats might add to the variety. Some more light hearted things could be good, while mixing in talking head panels and straight forward talks to the facilitated discussions.

Well I certainly had a great time and shall be more organised next time in order to arrive in time for the first panel (staying for evening entertainment may still be an issue, but I'd have liked more time to see everyone).

I was very impressed at the turn-out, and at how many people I knew (including some I hadn't seen in years).

Well done to the organisers and all who helped make the event such a success.

Roll on the next Polyday.

It was nice to meet you, however briefly (I was the one sitting opposite [info]barakta and next to [info]purplerabbits.)

*pouts*

I really, really wish I'd been able to get to it - but given the news I got on (sic) Friday 13th, it just wasn't an option at all.

I will make it to the next one - and to BiCon too this time around! :p

Is that Ali from Brighton?
If so, it's Sharon here - I got your email address then managed to erase it from my phone!
If you see this, please reply! :)

It was a fabulous evening for me. As it took place after B Movie I wasn't awake enough to get there earlier, but I certainly enjoyed that part of the day that I was there for.

Being able to just BE was a refeshing change. I felt relaxed, and happy.

One small thing, perhaps finishing at 11.30 rather than 12.00 would be an idea, as the last tube goes at 12.31 from Blackfriars, so we missed it due to clearing the DJ decks away. Apart from that, it was all ace!

It was entertaining, educational and (er, can't think of another word beginning with "E, oh, wait ... yes, "ENJOYABLE"!)

I had a very nice time, met some lovely people and can't wait for the next one!

I passed out my card to a couple of people, but if anyone wants to get in touch, then I can be contacted through my LJ email address.

I managed to erase the email address of a girl I met on Saturday! Her name is Ali, she's Spanish but living in Brighton as a care assistant... She was wearing black alternative clothes including a black hoodie with red writing on it...

I feel a bit daft for erasing it by mistake and don't want her to think i was lying when i said I'd email!

Apart from that, I had a great day, came out really positive and stronger and very perky :D

Yay for Polyday Fun!

We were only there for a short time, but it was a fun time, and we met lots of exellent people.

As promised to those people I spent half the evening badgering for their secrets, [info]the_polygraph is now up with all the data I managed to collect that night. I'm hoping to collect lots more.

On the other hand.
The data I collected that night turned out to be polluted in various ways and has now been removed and deleted.

[info]the_polygraph is there as a community attempting to track the interconnectedness of various Poly people.

We're only accepting information from people who join the community and offer it. We are not accepting information from, or about, people who have not joined and made their wishes clear on this matter.

I had a fantastic weekend down in London for Poly Day, congratulations to everyone involved in it's running, you all should be very proud. Was wonderful to catch up with people, some people I never managed to catch other than a smile and a wave across the room, even more marvelous was all these new faces that I hadn't seen before. The PR for the event must have worked :) My only complaint as ever was it was too damn short!

It was a fantastic venue, easily found from direction so a huge thumbs up for that.

Possibly things for the future would be more regular updates here or on the website, to keep us all excited.

it was a great day. Thankyou all very much.

I only made the second half of the daytime activities because it startd rather early for me, but i realise that it coudn't have gone on any longer.
There was a great atmosphere and there seemed to be quite a diverse bunch of attendees.

Absolutely splendid event. Nice one, organiser types. Was worth the trip down from Glasgow.

Looks like I was drunk in charge of a camera (http://www.flickr.com/photos/potatojunkie/sets/72157594332419280/) at some point. Oops.

Firstly as promised to [info]ciphergoth the small suggestion of mine which when I said it to him on Sunday, he boinged up and down in glee...

My suggestion was to get a map of the UK on some kind of pin-board arrangement and have little flags on which people could write a name+email address (or whatever). People who wanted to could put their pin in the board where they are roughly based. This would be useful for newbies who have travelled some way and want to know if any of the other 180ish people are from their area... Known groups could have a different coloured pin where they meet and a sheet of paper could have known in advance and addable poly meet ups of various levels of formality...

Further to that my partner suggested that there could be a frappr page for polyday or similar as my specialist hearing aid group people have done. Horribly web 2.0 I know, but maybe something to consider...

Congratulations to all the PolyDay organisers for the runing of a superbly organised event with a really good atmosphere.

High points for me were:
* Arriving to find that the venue was exactly where it was described on the website.
* [info]djm4 being all smiley and welcoming when I was a bit disoriented and shaky from 5 hours of travelling.
* Lovely venue which had character and enough of the right type of spaces for the right kind of things.
* Non-smoking indoors (this warranted a point of its own) which meant I could socialise without being ill, feeling like crap afterwards or smelling disgusting!
* Safe sex workshop which I hope will be run again in similar events in the future.
* Catching up with people I knew; meeting people IRL for the first time *waves at [info]lizw and [info]pinkdormouse*; meeting new people; chatting to newbies about various events throughout the year...
* Fantastically organised desk, desk-rotas which crossed people over so I got to meet several new people as well as people I already knew.
* Some of the ickle kids having a nice time in a friendly space.
* Disco being all friendly and good, so much so I could sit on the floor without my hearing aid next to the speaker without it being a problem...

Things from an organisery perspective I want to note and indeed swipe for the event I am not allowed to organise until I've finished BiCon 2008 (thanks for the glare of doom [info]djm4)...

* Pictures + names + responsibilities of the organisers on the desk for people to read and desk-monkeys to play "who is who" with ;)!
* Multiple copies of the desk rota with ticks for arrival.
* Desk duty script.
* Desk-monkey shift patterns, an hour was a good length of time and the alternating one person every half an hour was cunning so people met one another more.

I hope the organisers get to recover from much organising and I shall definitely do my best to come to another PolyDay.
